Is Dell Good for Gaming?

I get asked this question a lot. And yes, Dell is good for gaming. At the top of the line is the Alienware Aurora series – an award-winning computer in the Gaming category at CES 2022. I’m a technology writer with more than 10+ years of experience covering tech tips and tricks, guides, reviews, and how-tos.

The purpose of this article is to explain why Dell is a great gaming laptop. To do so, I’ll discuss a few of the things that are crucial to playing games well: computer parts.

For more information about why Dell is a great brand for gamers, please continue reading.

Dell offers a variety of options for gamers, ranging from its G series laptops designed for those just starting out to the Alienware brand which is dedicated to hardcore players.

Now that we have gotten this little detail out of the way, let us move on to discussing why Dell ticks.

Graphics Processing Unit

A graphics processing unit speeds up the process of rendering graphics and videos, which can make it difficult for gamers with older computers to play new games. These high-end units are available from both NVIDIA and AMD and they’re compatible with most modern PCs, so if you’re a hardcore gamer who’s looking for a new rig, then check out what these two companies have to offer.

Central Processing Unit

As you dive into a video game, there are two aspects of the process that keep your computer running smoothly. These are also called Central Processing Units or CPUs – they’re responsible for both how fast your machine will run and how responsive it’ll be to what you want it to do. Aspects of these CPUs include Clock Speed and Core Count which will impact your gaming experience.

Some processors come with integrated graphics, but most do not. Gaming computers always have what are called dedicated or discrete graphics cards.

There are many different types of CPUs to choose from, but finding one that suits your needs is the first important step.

Cooling System

After playing your game for hours on end, the computer had to dissipate all that heat. Gaming computers are equipped with mechanical heatsinks and double cooling fans to protect electronic components from overheating. The Dell Alienware Aurora gaming PC desktop took things one step further with its use of water-cooling technology.

Read Access Memory (RAM)

Your PC’s RAM handles short-term tasks to give you more processing power. Some game titles can run on less than 8GB of RAM, but high-graphics demanding games need much more for a smooth gameplay experience.

When it comes to which kind of RAM you want, it all depends on what type of software applications and budget you’re working with. Before you make any major hardware purchases, first take a look at your current machine against the minimum requirements for what application(s) you hope to be able to run smoothly one day.

Storage Drives

For your home or enterprise computer, 500 GB of storage space would be adequate. But if you’re a hardcore gamer, you might want more than that. Drives greater than 1TB are perfect for gaming computers; choose between 2TB and 4TB.

Adding an SSD will increase the speed of your device immensely while adding HDDs could improve its overall performance without compromising too much on speed – so there’s no reason not to go all out!

Audio

When you add external speakers, you will be on the edge of your seat. But if that is not an option, then your gaming computer’s own built-in speaker system must also meet this requirement for optimum immersion into the experience.

For a truly out-of-this-world experience, you’ll need a high-quality audio system with sound and the best possible bass response.

Screen Display

Modern computer games possess photo-realistic graphics which make for an immersive gaming experience. Display types from Dell, such as QHD and FHD, offer rich color and sharp image quality which are great for immersion purposes.

Dell is a great company for video games. Their computers are targeted at gamers of all levels and they offer everything from high-end gaming laptops such as the G series or Alienware computers to brilliant performance gaming monitors.
